Pork Chops and Applesauce!

Episode #54 “The Personality Kid”

This episode can be summed up in one famous saying, “Pork Chops and Applesauce!” These were the famous words spoken by Peter Brady in this Brady Bunch classic!

After attending a friend’s party, Peter is convinced that he has absolutely no personality - honestly he is a total bore.  So, he tries an extreme personality makeover by transforming himself into such characters as Humphrey Bogart and Henny Youngman.  Hey Peter think of something more original as these characters have already been taken…  Maybe pretend to be someone else like Phil Packer (episode # 100).  Or, become a writer for the school paper and call yourself ”Scoop” Brady (episode # 68).  He also tries to be a joke teller but everyone keeps stealing his thunder – the punchlines.

Since his new personalities only prove to be annoying to everyone he decides to throw himself a party to try and fit in.  At this party his friends ask him to quit trying to be someone else and simply concentrate on being Peter Brady. Peter discovers that his own personality suits him best!

The Brady Bunch Episode #11

Episode #11 “54-40 And Fight”

In this episode, we discover that all six of the kids share the same hobby -  collecting trading stamps! However, once they discover that the stamp company is going out of business all hell breaks lose.

The girls have saved 54 stamp booklets while boys have only 40 books. So, what will the Brady kids do? Alone neither party can get anything of value as a prize so they decide to combine their collection to get one good prize.

So, what do they want to get? The boys want a row boat while the girls want a sewing machine. So when neither side gives in Mike and Carol (the parents) step in and complicate matters even further. Instead of making the kids compromise on a prize they suggest that the kids battle it out over building a house out of cards. Whoever knocks over the house loses their stamp collection and the other wins. Wow!  Talk about some competitive parents.

After a long tense matchup, Tiger jumps on Greg while he was placing a card onto the house causing him to fall into the table and lose the game. So the girls not only won the boys stamp books but their pride too! However, when the girls go to claim their prize they decided that they should get something everyone could enjoy. So instead they got a color television!  Thus a new battle began – fighting over what to watch.  Maybe they should have picked a pay phone?  Sorry that already happened in episode 9.
